He Is Enough
In our fast-paced society do you wonder if you can even keep up? When your image is dictated by those around you, is it hard to catch your breath? Have you been praying and you can’t see the answer? Have you ever felt so low you feel like you have no one to turn to? It is during those times to remind yourself that your relationship with God, in prayer and His Word, is all the help you need to start to see your way out.
“Ask in my name, according to my will, and he'll most certainly give it to you. Your joy will be a river overflowing its banks” (“John 16:24). In this verse, Jesus encourages His disciples to pray in His name. Until that moment, the disciples had not directly asked for anything using Jesus’ authority (His name).
Why does God want to see your JOY overflow? When Jesus says, “ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full,” He is promising that prayers made in His name will be answered by God, which builds faith, thereby fulfilling the joy of the believers. The deeper meaning here involves the concept of Jesus acting as an intermediary between God and humankind. Faith in Him and invocation of His name in prayer grants believers power and ensures their prayers will be heard by God.
Our joy, peace, and help all come from the All-Sufficient One. As we receive of this truth, our hearts and souls fill with the joy of His Love. Allow this truth to set your faith on new footing on which you find yourself with Jesus - beside you to consult you in every difficulty, and with you to reassure you that your Heavenly Father is “Jehovah-Jirah”, He is enough. When you know that all your help comes from the Lord, you will see that He has everything in control.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 136:1).
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped” (Psalm 28:7).
