God Gets the Glory
“One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple” (Psalm 27:4 NIV).
In order to succeed, there are certain things you must surrender to God. You can’t be friends with everyone. There are people who come into your life, but not everyone will stay. Some will enter your life for a season and you will have an impact on each other for a particular reason. But at the end of the day, they’re gone. Then there are those who God has called into your life and you will have added value to each other’s spiritual journey, heart, and life. For example, my sister-in-law shares with me about concepts I shared with her some thirty or forty years ago.
“Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens a friend's countenance” (Prov 27:17 NHEB Messianic). We don’t realize the power of our influence on others until we see how much Jesus has influenced us. How we live our lives has a great impact on others, either for the better or for the worse. Therefore, let our focus be, not only to enrich ourselves, but also to pour into others.
When we choose to do right by others and ourselves, God gets the glory. When we have a healthy balance between our private lives and public lives, God gets the glory. When we allow God to bring in the right people and put us on His path, God gets the glory. And, in the end, we have a sense of fulfillment such as joy, self- respect, confidence, and greater integrity. It’s not always easy to discern which way to go, but I love that scripture that promises, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight” (Prov 3:6 NIV).
