Living in the Real World
As a teenager, I often daydreamed about my future—the life I would build, the family I would have, and the person I would become. I knew I was not the only dreamer among my friends. Over time, however, I began to understand that life extended beyond the safety of my mother’s home. Challenges would come because we live in the real world, and I had to learn that my response to difficulty was often more important than the challenge itself.
That lesson has shaped the way I understand faith and grace. We live in the dispensation of grace, not under the rigid demands of the Law. Still, I believe the Law was not erased but was fulfilled by Christ. It is written in the hearts of believers and lived out through the help of the Holy Spirit. We cannot fully live by the Word of God, understand what Jesus accomplished at Calvary, or experience the work of the Holy Spirit apart from the saving grace of Christ. Through Jesus, the Second Adam, we have hope and a future in Him.
I have always stood on Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” This verse reminds me that God has purpose, guidance, and hope for His people, even in seasons of suffering, confusion, or uncertainty.
