Never Again: Lesson Learned at The Dinner Table

As I sat in my dining room finishing a wonderful meal my husband had prepared for us. My mind went back 30 years ago when we were asked to entertain a top evangelist in our home in Mpls, because the person that had been invited to her home for dinner, but she was called away by her pastor to pray for someone in the  church. This was not unusual for her being called away doing ministry work. I said I cannot cook for them because it's late and we were getting ready for bed, but this person stressed how important this was to them, so I agreed. She told me the food was already prepared so all I had to do was set out China dishes.

Well, when the food came into my kitchen, I had everything ready to put on the table; my husband  helped carry the roaster of capon and dressing, buttered string beans, and mashed potatoes. Everything looked delicious. We fixed our plates only to find that the capons were spoiled. I was so embarrassed, so the evangelist went on to tell us what a good cook his wife was. I promised myself that I would never be caught in that bind again. I promised myself that I will be wiser in the future.

There are numerous never again that we say in our lives at various times. it may not be related to eating bad food. But there are other areas that we promise ourselves for instance and with the Lord’s help plus determination we can achieve our growth;

Never Again will I confess “I can’t” Phil 4:13

Never Again will I confess lack of faith Rom 12:3
