From Strength to Strength

In the words of Charles Spurgeon: From strength to strength go on; wrestle, fight, and pray; tread all the powers of darkness down, and win the well-fought day.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.” (Gal. 5:17 NKJV)

As a Christ-follower, there is a constant struggle in every believer’s heart between the old nature and the new. The old nature is continually active and loses no opportunity of plying all the weapons of its deadly armory against believers. On the other hand, the new nature is ever on the watch to resist and destroy the enemy of our souls. The power of God’s grace within us will utilize the power of the Word, prayer, praise, and faith to defeat evil. We stand with the whole armor of God, and we wrestle earnestly.

Be encouraged. Fight on! For God Himself is with you. Jehovah Nissi is your banner of victory, Jehovah Rapha is the healer of your wounds and brokenness, and Jehovah Jireh is your supplier of all that you need. Fear not! You shall overcome, for who can defeat God? Fight on, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

I am reminded of David’s song and prayer to the Lord for safety and protection in his life and through the many challenges he encountered. When you see a spot in the following prayer, insert your name to personalize your request before the Lord. Speak the words of life and victory over yourself:

Psalms 121: 1-8 (NIV)

  1. “I (insert your name) will lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from?
  2. Your name help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
  3. He will not let your name foot slip — He who watches over your name will not slumber;
  4. indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
  5. The LORD WATCHES over your name — the LORD IS your shade at your name right hand;
  6. the sun will not harm your name by day, nor the moon by night.
  7. The LORD WILL keep your name from all harm — he WILL watch over your name life;
  8. the LORD WILL watch over your name coming and going both now and forevermore.”
AMEN!
