Stronger Than a Lion (Part 2)

Whether we like it or not, the devil is a real personality who is looking for ways to destroy our lives. “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings” (1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV).

It is critical that we take authority over the plots of the devil. God has caused us to be power packed in Christ. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete” (2 Cor 10:4-6 NIV).

As children of God, we stand not as victims but as victorious in Jesus. One of my favorite sayings is: “You don’t know what you don’t know until you find out what you did not know.” A whole new understanding equips you to go further in your relationship with yourself, with God, and with those around you. Knowledge is power and Christ has given you power to overcome the attacks of the enemy of your soul. Satan has been using the same tricks since the beginning of time because people fall into his trap of deception and lies continually. “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19 KJV). In other words, the Lord is saying, “I have given you power to take captive every attack no matter how big or small.”

Here are four promises in God’s Word that you can use to win over Satan:
  • Take control of your thought life (Rom 12:1-2 NIV),
  • Pray (Luke 10:19 KJV),
  • Read the Word of God regularly (John 5:39 KJV), and
  • Know that God has equipped you to win (1 Peter 2:9-10 NIV).

Armed with the power and insight of the Spirit, I never have to allow the enemy to take advantage of me again. So, I open my heart today, and I ask the Holy Spirit to teach me everything I need to know to stand against the wiles the devil wants to employ against me. This is my prayer: “I thank You, Lord, for opening my eyes and my understanding to recognize Satan’s attacks against my life. Thank You also for giving me the understanding to know how to stand against these demonic attacks. I am so grateful that You have sent the Holy Spirit to be my Teacher and Guide, and to equip me to stand against every assault that comes against my life, my family, my church, my business, and all my relationships. I pray this in Jesus’ name! AMEN!”
