Serving a God Who Sees
Often time we forget that we serve a God who sees. He sees not something but everything. “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows” (Luke 12:7 KJV). This verse emphasizes God’s care and attention to every detail of our lives, even down to the individual hairs on our heads. It serves as a comforting reminder that we are deeply valued and cherished by our Creator.
There are many other verses in the Bible that contain similar promises of God’s faithfulness and steadfastness. I remember asking my mom how she was able to survive such a loss of her three children in a house fire? She told me one of her favorite Bible verses: “Never will I leave you; never forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5b). My mom went on to say that one day, when it seemed like she could not go any further, she opened her Bible to the Book of Job, and he came off the pages and ministered to her. That gave her strength to move forward.
She never told me what he said but I imagine one of the things he told her was “Though He slay me, yet will I trust HIM” (Job 13:15a). This verse is a reminder that God is always with us, even in our darkest moments. It is a source of comfort and strength for many people. My mother never wavered in her faith in God or His word. Despite her many human experiences, abusive marriage, and suffering, she stayed resilient. With unwavering faith, she would tell me, “Gail, no matter what life brings about, you hold on and God will see you through it.” She would go on to say, “One day I am going to see Jesus and it will be worth it all.” In June 2021, she went home to see Jesus.
