Don’t Let the Devil Ride

I love driving in my 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. I love that power when I get behind the wheel and it takes me to my destination. Everybody loves to get to where they are going, whether walking, flying, driving, or cycling. The point is people have destinations. Everybody needs some sort of roadmap and God’s Word gives us a roadmap to the destinations He has prescribed for us to follow. On our Christian journey there are roadblocks along the way. One of them is the Spirit of Deception which is the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid that which is false or invalid.

In the sixties we used to sing a song in church called “Don’t let the Devil Ride.” ‘Cuz if you let him ride he’ll want to drive, and he’ll take you too far’, and the song goes on. There are many renditions included in this song such as: ‘Don’t let him be your guide he will take your pride… Don’t let the devil use your phone he’ll cause trouble in your home… Don’t let the devil be your boss cuz your soul will be lost.’ I am sure you get the gist of this song.

The Spirit of Deception can and will overtake you mentally and emotionally and put you in a state of bondage. It is a tool of Satan if you’re not on your guard. Satan will have you believing all sorts of false information about yourself, your salvation, your marriage, and your relationship with God and how He is so displeased with you. Jesus answered the Jews who wanted to kill Him, “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44 ESV). Believing God’s Word helps you know that God is LOVE and His KINDNESS IS GIVEN TO YOU FREELY. “God told Israel (His People), ‘I've never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!’” (Jer 31:3b MSG). That is what God is saying to you!
