What Did Jesus Say or Not Say

I love the scripture that tells us to walk by faith in Him rather than by what we see. “For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Cor 5:7 ESV). The "walk" here is a metaphorical reference to the way a person conducts his or her life. We still use the phrase "all walks of life" to mean a variety of lifestyles or cultures.

A dear friend of mine in another state sent me this page that was authored by Jessica McDaniels. It caught my attention because some people today believe in themselves regardless of the truth of God’s word:

Five Things Jesus Did Not Say:

Follow your heart-But Jesus said, "Come with me. I will make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I'll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass” (Matthew 4:19-20 message bible).

Be true to yourself-But Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24 NIV).

Believe in yourself-But Jesus said, “Believe in me. I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24-25).

Live your truth-But Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

As long as your happy-But Jesus said, “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26-27 NIV).

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve” (Jer. 17:9-10 NIV)
