It’s Not About Me
I have a dear friend who would always say, “It’s not about me, it’s about Jesus and souls.” Sometimes we get so busy in our own lives that we forget about the great commission of going to all the world to preach the gospel. “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation” (Mark 16:15). “A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree” (Prov 11:28 MSG).
We always try to search inside ourselves looking for the answer of ‘why am I here?’ Let’s stop and consider, we did not create ourselves. So, looking within is not always the right path to the answer. We need to look outside of ourselves to discover why we are here in order to make our lives fulfilling.
I once heard a preacher say, “If you want to know how something is made all you have to do is read the manual or blueprint and it will give you every detail.” Well, the Bible is our manual or blueprint on why we were made and for what purpose. Every Christian can look into the Word of God and find their purpose. It starts with asking Christ to come into your life and be Lord of your life.
Open your Bible to Mark 16:15 and start there, while asking God to be your co- pilot. Commit your life to know Christ through His Word and prayer, even if you start out with 15 minutes a day and grow from there. “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it — the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know’” (Jer 33:2-3 NIV).
