Be Faithful as God is Faithful
I often hear people say if they had lived in Bible days things would be easier. An interesting thing is that little has changed in the last 2000 years. The Apostles and Jesus encountered the same issues as today and even worse. They warned against the very sins that we face today. It is the faithfulness of God’s Word and our faithfulness to live according to His Word, that enables us to stay clear of all things that are pitfalls and sinful.
“To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy - to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude: 24-25 NIV).
Jude’s readers were Jewish Christians some of whom rebelled against God. There were also some false teachers infiltrating the church with doctrinal errors. Jude reminds us that Christianity is not a game. Believers still need to be on their guard against doctrinal errors and persuasive teachers who lead people away from the truth about Jesus and a godly lifestyle.
As we enter into a new year, let us examine the of integrity of our faith and whether our actions are befitting a follower of Christ. It’s easy to talk about religious things, but words are of little value unless they benefit others and bring glory to God. What good do people point to in your life that gives evidence of a faith that benefits others and honors Christ?
The church is important because it helps us to personalize discipline and structure. What influence does your local church have on the community? Are the weak made strong? Are the discouraged being strengthened” Have the bewildered found peace?
In this chaotic and troubled world, the answer to our greatest needs are the Gospel, world mission, and fellowship with like believers; in these will we find peace, we recognize God. The church belongs Him; He is all powerful, our protector, faithful, our personal God. It goes without saying we all need Jesus Christ, a community of believers, His church and dedicated leaders preaching sound doctrine.
“But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!” (Jude: 20-21).
