God Sees You

Today I write with a heavy heart. My friend of thirty years transitioned this past Saturday from cardiac arrest better known as a heart attack. She was a young and vibrant woman of fifty-five years, and the youngest of eight children in her family. My friend was cherished by many people who knew her because she had quite a powerful presence. She was in the hospital for some time before they sent her home.

I’m so glad God keeps our tears: "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book" (Psalms 56:8). This scripture offers a powerful reminder that our struggles and sorrows are known and cherished by God. It’s a beautiful metaphor for how our pain and grief are not overlooked, but rather lovingly remembered. If you’re looking for comfort or hope, this verse might resonate deeply.

When my mom transitioned in 2021, I stayed strong for my family. I refused to cry when I should have, and as a result I suffered with Shingles. This was the result of trying to stay strong for everyone else. So today, I allowed the flood gates of tears to flow with safe people who loved her dearly. From the day we are born our bodies prepare to die or decay. God never intended for us to live on this earth forever. We must make room for the next upcoming generation. Scripture relates: “Absent from the body, present with the Lord.”

As a Christian I often express the belief that when Christians die, their soul/spirit immediately enters to the presence of God. It is derived from a passage in the Bible: "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). This verse brings comfort to many who believe in an afterlife and the hope of being with God after death. It’s a powerful statement of faith and assurance for those who follow Christian teachings. We don’t die, we merely close our eyes and open them in the presence of our loving Father.

Our earthly life is short-lived and full of turmoil. “We're all adrift in the same boat: too few days, too many troubles” (Job 14:1 Message Bible). Thank God, He gives us the strength to face our various challenges in life because Jesus already knew we could not make this journey called life without His strength. So, I don’t weep as the world weeps because my precious friend is with the Lord, and I will see her one day. And we all will shout and dance around the throne of God.

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Cor 15:57-58).
