The Son Always Shines

As I sat at my dining room table, I looked outside to a crisp clean shiny day. This brought back memories of my arrival in Seattle thirty years ago. My brother-in-law (deceased) who knew more about weather than I did, told me, “Gail, know this about Seattle in the wintertime - be aware of the shiny days because you could easily be fooled. On the coldest of days, the air smells fresh, but it’s freezing cold outside.” One thing for sure, anything beats Minneapolis with its forty below wind chill. That doesn’t count the knee-deep snow on the ground, and many days you have to shovel yourself out of your driveway.

My thoughts then turned to the SON who always shines without any interruptions. His plans move right along like clockwork; I’m talking about the Righteous Son of God. “Indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you — the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore” (Psalm 121:4-8 NIV).

I’m talking about Jesus, The Son of Righteousness. Jesus gives power into the lives of you and me. The righteousness of Christ transforms every believer into a powerhouse for Christ when we allow HIM to shine forth in us. Minnesota winters are cold and heartless, but the SON of RIGHTEOUSNESS is neither cold nor heartless. His goodness shines forever.

Remember, the Righteous Son of God doesn’t count your mistakes. He looks at your heart which is the real you. “The Lord appeared to (Jeremiah) as in the past, saying, ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving- kindness’” (Jeremiah 31:3 NIV). “Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to Your love remember me, for You are good, O Lord” (Psalm 25:7 NIV).
