God Has a Plan for Your Home
Every time we moved into a new home I would say, “A house is a home depending on the kind of people residing in it.” Today, more and more are searching for fulfillment outside the home because of the instability and lack of foundational principles that direct the affairs of a family. More than half of the marriages end up in divorce, and as a result, single parents are ever burdened with the task of raising a family as well as working to provide for them. But, God has a plan for the home just as He has the plan of redemption for every person’s life.
God’s Word tells us, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart” (Deuteronomy 6:4-6 KJV). When you walk into a home you can sense what kind of spirits dwell there. You can tell if it’s a home of peace or a home of chaos. I love to look at houses as I’m driving along our busy streets, and I marvel at the different appearances of upkeep. And I think to myself, who lives there and what’s the atmosphere inside. I think those thoughts because I grew up in a violent environment; everything on the outside looked good, but inside was another story.
Home should be a Godly atmosphere and where the truth of God’s Word is taught. I realize people have busy schedules and responsibilities; however, there are some things that should not be overlooked. Not only is God to be loved and worshipped, but His commandments also taught and instilled into the hearts of those who live under that roof. Christianity is to be displayed according to our testimony of what we believe. It’s like sharpening a knife; teaching in our home means we are sharpening the minds, hearts, and character of our children with divine truth.
