Come Out Of Your Cave

Jul 5, 2026    Sr Pastor Nate Mullen

After one of the greatest victories of his ministry, Elijah found himself hiding in a cave. The same prophet who called fire down from heaven was now running in fear, convinced he was alone and that his life was over.

It's a reminder that even people with great faith can face seasons of discouragement. Fear, disappointment, rejection, and exhaustion can cause us to retreat into our own "caves." These caves may not be physical places, but they can be places of isolation, self-pity, anxiety, or hopelessness.

Instead of condemning Elijah, God met him with grace. He provided rest, food, and then spoke—not through the wind, the earthquake, or the fire—but through a still, small voice. God's response wasn't to shame Elijah for hiding. It was to remind him that He was still present, still in control, and still had a purpose for his life.

Perhaps you've been living in a cave of your own. Maybe life's storms have caused you to lose confidence or believe you're facing your struggles alone. Today, God asks the same question He asked Elijah: "What are you doing here?"

His invitation is simple: Come out of the cave.

The storms around you do not define your future. God's voice does. He has not forgotten you, and His plans for your life have not changed. Just as God sent Elijah back with renewed purpose, He is calling you to trust Him again, step forward in faith, and continue the journey He has prepared for you.
